Mission Statement
The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission is to build and support one-to-one relationships to ignite the biggest possible futures for youth.
About This Cause
BBBSMV provides one-on-one adult mentoring relationships to at-risk youth, ages 5-17. These mentoring relationships take place in either a School-based Plus or Community-based program. School-based Plus matches (adult Bigs, youth Littles), meet at the child's school, typically over lunch and recess, about once a week throughout the school year. They eat lunch, play games, read books, go out for recess, and may also participate in BBBS sponsored group activities outside of the school day. Community-based matches meet for about 6-10 hours per month, typically on evenings and weekends, exploring free and low-cost community events as well as participating in BBBS sponsored group activities. Youth in middle and high school spend some time each month participating in career exploration activities and post-high school goal-setting and planning with their mentors.
