Mission Statement
Milestones Area Agency on Aging is the state-designated AAA resource tasked with connecting older adults, people with disabilities and their caregivers to services in the following seventeen Iowa counties: Appanoose, Clinton, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Wapello, and Wayne counties in Iowa.
About This Cause
Milestones Area Agency on Aging provides a supportive network through advocacy, education, coordination, counseling, nutrition, and various programs and services all geared to meet the needs of senior Iowans and their caregivers. The goal is to help older adults remain independent and self-sufficient. Specific services include: Information, Referral and Assistance at LifeLong Links toll free number (866-468-7887); Options Counseling with person-centered planning and implementing of long-term support and services; Family Caregiver supports and services; Elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness; Congregate and Home-Delivered meals programs; Nutrition Counseling; Nutrition Education including Fresh Conversations; Wellness and Safety through evidence-based education classes such as Better Choices and Better Health, Matter of Balance, and Tai Chi for Arthritis; SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program); Older Worker Employment Program (adults age 55 and older with disabilities, serviced though Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation). Senior Farmer's Market coupons are also distributed through Milestones.
