About This Cause

The Fairfield Arts and Convention Center opened in 2007 and is an interesting retreat by day and the jewel of Fairfield by night. The Center is home to the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, the first building in the United States to be named for celebrated composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim. The theater features an intimate 522-seat proscenium theater. The Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts is home to the flagship Sondheim Center Artist Series, featuring the best of music, comedy, dance and theater of national touring performances. The Center provides the backdrop for Way Off Broadway, Iowa's only professional musical theater company, Fairfield Concert Association, Chamber Music Society Fairfield, and the Fairfield Area Community Theater. The Center also hosts numerous dance recitals and various events that showcase the musical and performing talents of Fairfield's residents. The Center also welcomes national touring performing artists, theater companies and concerts. The Fairfield Arts and Convention Center offers flexible meeting space to accommodate gatherings of nearly any size, including a full range of catering and banquet options. The Center features more than 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting space available for rent, including the Fairfield Economic Development Association Executive Conference Room, Cambridge Investment Research Meeting Room, Dick and Judy Smith Meeting Room, Iowa State Bank Atrium and the Manufacturers Association Expo Hall.
