Mission Statement
Karen Carns Foundation - Primary focus is to provide tuition assistance to students in private elementary or high schools whose families have had a life-changing event affecting their ability to pay (death or permanent disability of a parent or guardian). Purpose is to keep the students in their familiar, supportive school environment during a time of crisis at home. Secondary program - Coats for Kids. Each winter, provides new coats to students who have been individually nominated by their teacher or advocate to receive one.
About This Cause
The Karen Carns Foundation has provided over $1,200,000 in tuition assistance to students attending private schools in the Greater Cincinnati area since 1999. This assistance made it possible for these students to continue in their private schools during a life-changing event at home that would have otherwise resulted in their being withdrawn due to financial difficulties. The Karen Carns Foundation Coats for Kids program has provided over 10,000 new winter coats to children in need since 1991. These children are nominated by their teachers to receive a new coat, and the teachers hand-select the coats for each child.
