Mission Statement

The Dubuque Regional Humane Society promotes the well-being of all animals by fostering respect for their inherent dignity and builds life-long bonds between companion animals and people through adoption, humane education, community outreach and the prevention of cruelty.

About This Cause

Over the last 117 years, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society (DRHS) has evolved and today is an open admission, non-profit, no-kill shelter that promotes the humane treatment of animals and builds life-long bonds between companion animals and people through adoption, education, community outreach and the prevention of cruelty. Each year, the DRHS cares for over 2,500 pets that are lost, abandoned, surrendered by owners, or rescued from neglect. Our organization is committed to finding loving homes for 100% of the healthy and treatable animals in our care. In 2017 the DRHS increased our save rate to 93.7% and decreased the average stay at our no-kill shelter to just 12 days. In addition, we enriched the lives of 2,203 families with a new companion animal and reunited 205 lost pets with the people who love them.
