About This Cause
Founded in 1864, Epworth Children & Family Services is a multiservice agency that, through intentional and caring interactions, awakens and enhances the resilience of youth and families who have experienced trauma. Thousands of individuals turn to Epworth each year for foster care case management, residential and intensive treatment, psychological evaluation, in-home family therapy, emergency shelter services, transitional and independent living, homeless youth outreach, drop-in center and clinical services, life skills and vocational training, and a 24-hour crisis help-line. Epworth was founded as a mission agency of the United Methodist Church to care for Civil War orphans, and it continues to work in partnership with both the community at large and the church to meet the needs of contemporary youth. Today, Epworth is an independent agency serving all children and families, regardless of religious affiliation.
