Mission Statement
Wildlife Rescue Center rehabilitates injured, sick and orphaned native wildlife and releases healthy animals into their natural habitat. Through educational outreach, the Center provides environmental awareness, promotes a harmonious relationship with native wildlife, and encourages the community to protect our delicate ecosystems.
About This Cause
The Wildlife Rescue Center is a nonprofit, professional wildlife rehabilitation facility resting on 15 acres adjacent to Castlewood State Park. Since its humble beginning in 1979, WRC has treated more than 30,000 native wild patients. Over 2000 patients are treated each year in the 8000 square foot facility and its outdoor enclosures. Nearly every creature entering our care is admitted due to an incident tied to humans. These include car strikes, attacks by domestic animals and injuries accidentally or intentionally inflicted. Dedicated staff and volunteers repair woulds and support healing while maintaining the wild integrity of each animal. Healthy animals are returned to the wild.
