Mission Statement
We are a food pantry that distributes food product to those in need in the Arnold area along with portions of Fenton and Imperial, MO. Our pantry works with local grocery stores and organizations to stock our pantry shelves with nutritional food for clients. We feed over 150 families every week. We provide personal care products.
About This Cause
The Arnold Food Pantry had its start in the basement of a church in 1983 in Arnold. The original founders felt there was a need to help those who were doing without and began the process of setting up the food pantry. They were clear in their vision of wanting to help anyone, regardless of their church affiliation and decided the pantry would be nondenominational. They started by having their congregants bring in canned goods. Over thirty years later, and the move to two different locations due to expansion, the pantry has continued to grow and provide for those who might otherwise do without. The Arnold Food Pantry is recognized as the largest, non denominational food pantry in the greater St. Louis area. We seeks to provide supplemental food assistance to those in need. Our mission statement is simple: "With profound compassion and respect, the Arnold Food Pantry gathers, stores and distributes food to alleviate hunger in our community and to encourage collaboration with our neighbors in the battle against hunger." The Arnold Food Pantry receives no federal or state money, nor are we an United Way agency. Our pantry operates through the generous donations of the surrounding communities, proceeds from our thrift store, and events that we sponsor like the Liverpool Legends and our yearly production of the Nutcracker at Christmas. Each week we feed approximately 150 families. This statistic does not include the number of emergencies we see each week, along with the homeless population that we serve. We distribute more than 1500 meals each week. We provide our clients with toiletries, cleaning supplies and birthday baskets for the children. The pantry provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for every family that we service. We also are able to help out other pantries on a weekly basis by providing them with food we have left over from our weekly distribution day. In 2017 our pantry distributed over 4 million dollars worth of food to clients and other food pantries in need of assistance. Food insecurity continues to remain an issue that can only be addressed with the assistance of neighborhoods, communities and businesses that provide food and product for distribution. We collaborate with many organizations in an effort to alleviate hunger. Our pantry provides referrals to other agencies and participates in many different programs throughout the Jefferson County area. We provide flu shots, high blood pressure testing, help with navigating the health care system, birthday bags for children, free cell phones and emergency household items. We encourage people to call us directly to see if there is something that we can do for them in their time of need. The Arnold Food Pantry prides itself on providing assistance to anyone who requires help. If we are unable to provide what is needed, we will do our best to find the proper resource.
