Mission Statement
We are an interdenominational Christian Ministry working in rural Nicaragua since 1995. We work with approximately 52,000 Nicaraguans who live in 159 communities. Much of what we do involves community participation, so we have significant organizations in each community and do all of our work through these groups. We train leaders through this organization as well. We work in four areas: Healthcare/Nutrition, Education, Economic Development and Housing.
About This Cause
The Rainbow Network mission is to share in the love of Jesus Christ by partnering with Nicaragua’s poorest people in healthcare, education, economic development and housing. We currently operate 8 networks in 159 communities of rural Nicaragua. Within each community there are many volunteers that provide the work in the Nutrition Centers and oversee the committees for Education, Economic Development, Housing, and Healthcare. Our programs train and educate the volunteers in leadership, accounting and responsibility for running the programs within their community. We operate afternoon school programs with approximately 7,000 students. Rainbow Network has a high school sponsorship program with 1,100 kids. We employ a staff of 40 professionals in Nicaragua, and all are Nicaraguans. This includes physicians who travel to a different community each half day and set up clinics. The patients that can pay are charged a small fee for the consultation plus any and all medicines needed. The doctors carry a supply of meds with them and dispense as they go. Over 1,400 cement block homes have been built, providing safe and sanitary homes for families who formerly lived in some version of a mud and stick hut with a dirt floor.
