About This Cause
The Maplewood Athletic Association is an all-volunteer, IRS Section 501(c) (3) nonprofit youth tackle football organization, based in Bethesda, Maryland. Started in 1961 by Ken Hobson and Hank Fricke, Maplewood has been serving the youth of our community for 55 years. Originally a charter member of the Capital Beltway League, we are now a proud member of the Mid Maryland Youth Football & Cheer League (MMYFCL). (http://www.eteamz.com/MMYFCL) The Maplewood Athletic Association is comprised totally of volunteers providing competent leadership and positive adult mentors to any child who wants to learn the game of football. Our volunteer coaches teach the fundamentals of football to players between the ages of 6 and 14. There is an emphasis on team play, “esprit de corps”, pride, sportsmanship and competition.
