BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI

Sedalia, Missouri, 65301 United States

Mission Statement

Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as caring and productive citizens.

About This Cause

The Boys and Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri began operations in 1960 with the opening of Sedalia Boys Club, serving 100 or so boys three days per week at Convention Hall in Sedalia before moving operations to the Community Center at 314 S Washington Ave. In 1990 the Club added 'girls' to its title and an aggressive effort to serve both boys and girls was started. In the early 1990s, the Club also expanded its operations to all Sedalia elementary schools to reach even more children. This important partnership with the Sedalia 200 School District continues today. In 2008, the Club updated its name to the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri to reflect a broadened reach. Today the Club serves more than 2,000 children in Sedalia, Cole Camp, Green Ridge, La Monte, Leeton and Smithton with a focus on providing outcome-based enriched learning programs that focus on Academic Success, Character Leadership Development and Healthy Lifestyles. BGCWCM is the fourth-largest Boys & Girls Club in the State of Missouri and continues to build upon its nearly 60 years of afterschool learning success.
