Mission Statement
Children's Mercy is a nonprofit hospital providing comprehensive care for patients from birth to 21 regardless of their ability to pay. Children's Mercy is recognized by U.S. News & World Report in ten pediatric specialties. Microsoft has teamed up with Children’s Mercy to benefit CHAMP (Cardiac High Acuity Monitoring Program), a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team that has been built to meet the needs of some of our most complex patients: babies who are born with single ventricle heart disease and are in the critical inter-stage period between the first and second stages of surgery. These high-risk single ventricle infants and their families receive support with home monitoring provided by the CHAMP team. An important part of our home monitoring program is our proprietary app, which is connected to a central database. We provide families with a tablet PC that has the app to enable nearly-instantaneous in-home monitoring and to improve communication during this vulnerable time.
About This Cause
Children's Mercy Hospital is a 354-bed comprehensive pediatric medical center in Kansas City, Missouri that integrates clinical care, research and medical education to provide care for patients ages birth to 21. The hospital's primary service area covers a 150-county area in Missouri and Kansas. Children's Mercy has received national recognition from U.S. News & World Report in ten pediatric specialties. The hospital was the first in Missouri and Kansas to receive Magnet Recognition for excellence in nursing services from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and has been re-designated three times. As a nonprofit holds, Children's Mercy treats patients regardless of their ability to pay. The hospital also provides tremendous benefit to the surrounding area through community benefit initiatives. In 2015, Children's Mercy provided more than $150 million in charity care and community benefit programs.
