Mission Statement
9/11 Day is the respected 501c3 nonprofit that founded, and today supports the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, also known as 9/11 Day. The long-term mission of 9/11 Day is to transform 9/11 into a day of unity, empathy and service as an enduring and positive tribute to those lost and injured on 9/11, and the many who rose in service in response to the attacks, including first responders, recovery workers, volunteers and members of our military.
About This Cause
In observance of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance ("9/11 Day"), 9/11 Day works on a national (U.S.) basis to encourage all Americans to remember the lives of those lost and injured as a result of terrorism on 9/11 and worldwide, and honor them through personal expressions of charitable service, unity and peace. In support of this ongoing mission, 9/11 Day annually organizes, and supports through many partners, volunteer service projects in observance of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. This includes organizing the annual Meal Pack for 9/11 Day, which takes place in NYC and 17 other cities around the nation. In 2023, more than 20,000 volunteers packed over 6.7 million healthy, non-perishable meals. These meals are donated to local food banks and provided to individuals and families facing food insecurity. 9/11 Day also provides free lesson plans and educational resources that are used by tens of thousands of teachers nationwide to teach students about 9/11 Day and engage them in charitable service.
