Mission Statement
We partner with school systems to build and sustain the conditions, teaching, and leadership to ensure that students furthest from opportunity succeed in school and in life.
About This Cause
Leading Educators exists to address the challenge that too many Black, Latinx, and Indigenous students enter classrooms with teachers who do not have the support to provide the excellent equitable teaching they need and deserve. Since its founding in 2011, Leading Educators has a track record of delivering on its powerful vision to disrupt and eradicate racial inequities in education. Leading Educators is revolutionizing traditional teacher development by using cutting-edge research and evidence to change teaching practice. When school systems have the strategy and tools to build lasting improvements in teaching and learning, leadership, and mindsets, historically underserved students receive the teaching they need to be college and career-ready. Through rigorous, best-in-class evaluation, Leading Educators has demonstrated accelerated growth in student learning and teachers’ knowledge of their subject areas, all while strengthening the systemic structures to replicate the approach across multiple classrooms. Here are some highlights of Leading Educators’ impactful partnerships with more than 20 school systems: ● With the District of Columbia Public Schools, Leading Educators supported the district to scale the teacher professional learning approach across the entire system in 116 schools. After the five-year partnership, DCPS saw consistent growth over four years in student proficiency, with 15% growth in English-Language Arts and 11.5% growth in Math. ● In Louisiana, early math assessments indicate gains equivalent to closing one-third of the opportunity gap between black and white students for students in LE schools in one academic year. The effect size for an average student corresponds to 12 percentage points. ● 92% of surveyed teacher leaders indicated improved expectations for students and their common beliefs connected to equity after two years of professional learning with Leading Educators.
