Mission Statement

Providing Hope & Support For Kids Fighting Cancer In Yemen

About This Cause

The Children Cancer Hope non-profit was founded in 2011 to improve the quality of life for children fighting cancer and their families in Yemen. We try to help those in need at any stage of their illness and recovery. We help to ease the financial burdens that accompany major illness; give crucial support, comfort and help to address the challenges they face. Also the CCH helps to provide lifesaving pharmaceutical drugs, medical supplies, equipment to facilities, as well as enriching toys for children during their stay. Further, we are trying to provide educational programs to assist with the child’s academic progress while away from school for treatment. Every day dozens of children with cancer arrive at Alwahada Children’s Hospital in Aden city, Yemen from surrounding cities and villages for varying treatments. We admit between 25-35 patients daily. According to the UN statistics there are approximately more then (9000) registered children with cancer in Yemen. We feel that we can help by providing needed aid and help develop the skills that will be useful throughout their lives. Our effort to help recovery from the cancer is only partially due to the lack of essential medical supplies. Present Conditions in Yemen Yemen is being called the “world’s worst humanitarian crisis.” Over 20 million people are at risk for famine, and aid agencies are desperately funneling as much aid as possible to at-risk families. On top of that, The situation in Yemen remains volatile with constant unrest and violent clashes between Al-Houthi rebels and the Yemeni government along with their supporters and allies. There is a high threat from Al-Houthi rebels in the Arabian Peninsula and it continues to threaten further attacks. Unfortunately, because of all the continuing unrest and violence, the number of victims increases due to financial restraints and logistical difficulties, like a lack of roads and hospitals. Many children suffer from an absence of supplies or pharmaceutical drugs; some patients are forced to pay large sums of money to see a cancer specialist. Yemen is witness to one of the highest rates of cancer in the Middle East and North Africa region, increasing at a trajectory 10 times higher than any other Arab country. With a big heart we give to those who are too weak to speak. We try to give hope to those who feel they have lost the joys of youth hood. We have a passion for making young children smile, laugh and feel what it’s like to live happily. Children and their families need hope. Hope is something never ends; hope is a reality to keep the faith that you will survive and be alive.
