Mission Statement
Everybody Dance Now! is a national nonprofit organization that provides weekly hip hop dance programming to young people. EDN! uses dance to educate, inspire, and build community. Through hip hop culture, EDN! engages diverse youth and closes opportunity and achievement gaps that disproportionately impact low-income residents and communities of color. EDN! promotes equity, empowerment, and healing through the arts.
About This Cause
EDN objectives are to provide access to the arts and cultural activities for underserved, low-income children and youth. Through the language of hip hop culture, EDN engages communities in a way that appeals to youth and fosters a spirit of innovation, exploration, and communication that moves beyond dance and into personal growth. The curriculum seeks to help students grow in the following areas: Artistic Development: Students increase knowledge, skills and experience in dance; youth work toward and perform in pre-professional concerts; youth complete arts and humanities learning projects related to hip hop history and culture. Youth Development: Students develop social skills, study cultural history, and meet recommended daily physical activity requirements. Community Development: Students share dance with the community, promoting parent engagement and allowing families to see the importance of quality arts education. EDN brings youth together from different backgrounds and neighborhoods. Bilingual instruction is provided where necessary. Student have a voice in their community.
