Mission Statement
We provide durable medical equipment (DME) to patients who have no insurance or funds to purchase prescribed DME.
About This Cause
We collect 'gently used' durable medical equipment (DME - class I and II) which is evaluated for use. The donor receives a tax form for their donation. DME is repaired, if needed, and sanitized to state standards, then provided, free of charge, to patients who have: 1) a doctor's prescription, 2) are 200% below the poverty level, 3) have no insurance, or a gap in insurance coverage and, for now, 4) lives in Dallas County. Dallas County has the highest number of uninsured individuals in the entire nation! As patients cannot be discharged without the proper DME for recovery, we save a lot of time for staff who have to look for donations, we save money for the hospital that cannot handle the next patients until DME can be found for the current one, we increase independence and mobility for the patient and save the backs of those who are assisting with dressing, rehabilitation and recovery.
