Mission Statement
Bannu is a nonprofit organization focusing its work on Health and Education in rural areas of Telangana. We strive to make positive and lasting contributions in areas associated with neglect and high risks. Our current focus is to provide provide special education to those with intellectual disabilities, and to establish a secondary care hospital in a remote tribal region devoid of functional healthcare. About This Cause
Currently we have 4 projects being undertaken all in Telangana state of South India. 1.Bannu Neurohealth and Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectually disabled kids. established 2013 Special education school for mentally challenged kids and adults in warangal city.Run in our own building spread out in an acre land.Depending upon their chronological age and mental abilities as per their assessments and evaluations done by our qualified special-education faculty staff, the students will be grouped into various levels of classes ranging from early intervention program, pre-primary and primary group, secondary and prevocational group, as well as post secondary/vocational group.We also provide job training skills and placement help.We have full time speech therapist, occupational and physiotherapist,Special educators with master's and bachelor's degree, Psychologists along with assistants and other ancillary staff. Currently have 37 staff and 95 full time students Provide door to door transportation.All services are totally free of cost. 2.Bannu Charity Hospital, Eturnagaram, Jayashanker DIst Established Feb 2016 A 16 bed critical access hospital providing subsidized and free healthcare to marginalized and impoverished people of this tribal region with 7 mandals (counties) and a population of around 200,000 with below the poverty line.We have an ambulance service, operating theatre , Pharmacy, Diagnostic lab with ultrasound, x-ray and ECG.We have two full time doctors and 26 other ancillary staff working full time.We also conduct regular free medical camps in remote interior surrounding tribal regions providing free diagnostic tests as well as dispense free medications.We conduct regular anti-natal awareness programs and pregnant woman consultations in local anganwadi centers.We also provide training program for medical and nursing students to get hands on experience with vast variety of diversified patient population. 3.Bannu Garments.Warangal city Established march 2015 Self employment program for poor woman with a goal to be financially stable.Most of the woman are parents to our Bannu special education school kids who are intellectually disabled.We train these woman in tailoring and currently produce school sports uniforms to various regular schools in the city and surrounding region.Currently have about 26 staff. 4.Helping Babies Breathe Program. Started March 2017 In collaboration with PROJECT C U R E and American Academy of Pediatrics ,Bannu is conducting a series of 2 day work shops & training programs for government doctors mostly serving the rural tribal population in the state of Telangana. Trainers are American physicians and surgeons who train the doctors in life saving skills and techniques of the high risk new borns born in rural hospitals with limited resources.
