Mission Statement
Born This Way Foundation is committed to supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to create a kinder and braver world. To achieve these goals, the foundation leverages evidence-based research and authentic partnerships to work with young people to build kinder communities, improve mental health resources, and foster more positive environments – online and offline.
About This Cause
Founded by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta in 2012, Born This Way Foundation is committed to supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to build a kinder and braver world. Focusing on fostering kindness and mental wellness, the Foundation leverages innovative programming, quality research, and authentic partnerships in order to: demonstrate the potential of kindness to transform lives and communities; validate the emotions of young people; and eradicate the stigma around mental health Born This Way Foundation recognizes that today’s young people are a passionate, collaborative, idealistic and diverse generation. They are our most promising problem solvers and effective change makers. That’s why our programs are tailored for and powered by young people – putting their ideas, voices, and needs first. We work to provide young people with authentic opportunities, high quality resources, and multiple platforms to make their voices heard. We engage young people online and in their communities, working with a diverse group of partners to connect youth with the support and services they need to thrive and drive change. We work with leading researchers to improve understanding of the factors that affect youth wellness and empowerment.
