Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide transformative Computer Science Education for every student. We are a team of educators, researchers, and engineers committed to bringing Computer Science to all students, particularly those from underserved communities. We believe in creating learning environments that engage every student, foster joy, and promote fearlessness in problem-solving. We aim to empower students by transforming the way they voice their ideas, understand their world, and imagine their futures.
About This Cause
Our team is made up of engineers, educators, and volunteers committed to creating an educational culture that gives more kids a chance to choose their own futures. Our innovative approach includes partnerships with Title 1 schools and organizations to expose more kids to Computer Science concepts and skills through STEM curriculum and an open-source community for educators to share project ideas and find support. Through our in-school programming Get Coding, we are also preparing educators to teach kids to code. Our series of training courses boost teachers’ knowledge and confidence in teaching JavaScript and Block programming languages at historically underserved elementary schools. This school year, we are serving nearly 9,000 elementary school students and 350 public school teachers with our Get Coding program, and we're just getting started. Our big goal is to bring Get Coding to all 1,000 Title-I elementary schools in Los Angeles County, delivering transformational Computer Science Education to hundreds of thousands of Los Angeles' youngest students. Our vision: An empowered and diverse new generation of coders from every walk of life, set for success and eager to help our world address its most important issues.
