Mission Statement
Helping to end child hunger in our county one backpack at a time.
About This Cause
The mission of the BackPack Program is to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Our goal is to help end childhood hunger in Berkeley County one backpack at a time. We are passionate in our belief that no child should ever have to experience hunger and all the negative effects that accompany it. We expect that with our program, there will be a time when our numbers are no longer growing and all of the children in all of the Berkeley County Schools food needs are met. We achieve a victory each week when we are able to meet the growing number of student needs that need our help. Lastly, our definition of success for the BackPack Program has two parts, one in the short term and the other in the long term. First, our immediate success comes when we are able to meet the weekly growing number of students who have need for our assistance with food for the weekends and school holidays. Second, our long term success would be to end childhood hunger and poverty within our county, state, and country. Until that day comes, we at the Berkeley County BackPack Program will continue to help end childhood hunger in our county one backpack at a time.
