Mission Statement
Our Mission: Seattle Nativity School is a Catholic, Jesuit-endorsed Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), middle school seeking to break the cycle of poverty through an education that nourishes souls and ignites leaders for love and service. Serving low-income families of south and central Seattle for grades 6-8. Program includes extended day, extended year and graduate support.
About This Cause
As an independent, Catholic (category 2) middle school, Seattle Nativity School was established in 2012 and accepted its first 6th grade class for the 2013-14 school year. Seattle Nativity School purpose is to serve low-income students in grades 6-8, as a co-educational institution with 15-20 students per grade who qualify for the free and reduced National School Lunch Program. Seattle Nativity's mission is aligned with Catholic identity standards and the Jesuit charism of social justice, pursuing collaboration and companionship with our families and community partners. Enrollment is not limited to Catholics or Christians, since our commitment is to helping underserved students close the widening achievement gap in Central and South Seattle. The Board of Directors of Seattle Nativity School is comprised of talented and experienced community leaders with experience in education, the Catholic community, and the private sector. The Seattle Nativity School is part of a larger national network of 60 Nativity schools across 22 states providing a rigorous academic program. The Nativity Model is built around the proven Mission Effectiveness Standards: faith-based, holistic, results-driven, educational and administrative best practices, extended day and year, family partnerships and graduate support. Nationally, Nativity schools report: 97% daily attendance rates 90% high school graduation rate (compared to 50% nationally) 86% enrollment in post-secondary institutions of colleges and universities
