Mission Statement
The mission of our organization is to ensure that every child has the tools to persevere, become positive contributors to society, and create a path for long-term success as adults. Students are provided with several programs to address both socio-emotional and academic needs. With students learning the process of "each one reach one" they in turn give back to their community through community service, outreach, mentoring and tutoring.
About This Cause
Through community partnerships, we are providing up to 300 low-income, high-risk male and female youth from eleven Eastside Union High School District campuses with year-round (9 months) educational tutoring in math, science and preparation tutorials to ensure their graduation from high school and to enter into colleges successfully. Program activities are held year-round during and after school. Our Dream Weaver program combines academic, personal development, mentoring, health and nutrition, athletic support and emotional intelligence to meet the needs of our youth as they transition from their teens to young adults. Instruction is provided by adult professionals with backgrounds in education, civics, STEM instructors, business professionals and other vested stakeholders. To this end, we use a logic model that looks at needs and interventions. We create an extensive list of the needs of our youth during the intake and assessment process and strategically match appropriate intervention activities to help each youth participant have a successful learning experience. We currently have an existing memorandum of understanding with the Superintendent's office at the East Side Union High School District in San Jose, Ca. to provide these services throughout the school year. Mama D 2nd Chance is a 501 C 3 nonprofit which also provides food, clothing, and critical need supplies to families in crisis. With the help of volunteers our organization makes available the necessary foods to survive during our high food insecurities in the community. Our outreach has more than tripled since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic. We provide the bulk of our services to residents in Santa Clara County on a daily basis. We have partnered with other organizations to streamline service delivery for those most in need.
