Mission Statement
One Sandwich at a Time is a grassroots organization where volunteers meet to make sandwiches and deliver them to shelters, distribution centers and directly to those in need - a simple and inexpensive way to make an immediate impact to those who are hungry and in need. It is the simple action of making a sandwich that has a greater impact of feeding someone in need.
About This Cause
Founded September 2011, One Sandwich at a Time (“OSAAT”) is a 501c3 charitable organization whose mission is to bring local community members together to help feed those in need and raise awareness of the plight of the homeless. OSAAT is an organization for the New York community, fueled by the New York community; volunteers work to feed the homeless of their city by creating a solution with their own two hands. OSAAT holds monthly sandwich making events for the public and with various organizations in which volunteers gather to make anywhere from 250-10,000 sandwiches for those in need. These sandwich making events typically last 2-3 hours and sandwiches are then distributed to local shelters, food pantries, and organizations in need. There is no better way than using one's own two hands to make a difference and with the support of the public, both monetarily and with their hands, we can make a difference to thousands of hungry individuals.
