Mission Statement
The mission of Imagine is to support children and families coping with loss and to foster resiliency and emotional well-being for all those who grieve. This is done through our year-round peer grief support center and through educational programs and advocacy.
About This Cause
Imagine is a peer-support group model facilitated by trained adult volunteers and is open year-round and free of charge for all participants. Imagine serves children aged 3-18, and young adults 18-30 who are coping with loss due to the death of a parent of sibling, or who have a family member with a chronic, terminal or life-altering illness. Concurrent support groups run for the parents, guardians or other caregivers of the youth served. Imagine exists to provide support in a safe environment where children and teens acquire the tools they need to become more resilient and learn healthy ways to cope with difficult and painful feelings. The program is designed as an effective intervention and prevention program for drug and alcohol abuse and other unhealthy or destructive coping mechanisms. Our vision is to create communities in which grief and trauma are transformed into resilience, empathy and compassion, and where children coping with loss grow up emotionally healthy and able to lead meaningful and productive lives.
