Mission Statement
Compassion Planet’s mission is to help aged-out foster youth (ages 18 - 24) overcome obstacles, achieve independence, and reach their fullest potential.
About This Cause
Deer Creek Farm Mentoring Program: Under the supervision of Social Workers, our 12 month trainee program incorporates group counseling, personal mentoring, life skills training and employment. We serve aged-out foster youth and young people who come from at-risk backgrounds. Our outcome-based program includes general and personalized pathways to help achieve measurable success. All of our services, apart from optional outings, fall within the context of employment. We have observed that this approach helps each trainee experience a newfound respect, which simultaneously adds greater value to training sessions, while building their self-worth. Over the course of the year, besides meeting the basic needs such as food, housing and employment, we offer life skills training in the following topics: career development; relational skills; social manners and customs; health and hygiene; character development; community care and social compassion; financial management, healthy family structures; and leadership development.
