Mission Statement

We see a world where all people are empowered through education to enrich their lives and reach their fullest potential. To achieve that Vision, our Mission is to partner with underserved communities to create educational opportunities through locally run libraries and community learning centers.

About This Cause

Kiwimbi International provides opportunity through education, with a focus on communities with weak educational infrastructure. Our first Community Learning Center was established in rural western Kenya where we opened the first free public library in Busia County in Kenya in 2013 and have provided supplemental educational programs and classes to local children since 2012. Kiwimbi’s Library serves over 50 public schools, including transporting books to and from far-away schools. Our aid has targeted students facing a high stakes national exam by providing: • Intensive national exam preparatory programs (including school lunches) in English and math at 3 primary schools for 200 Grade 8 students • Learning camps 3 times a year during school breaks • Outreach programs focusing on English literacy at 33 schools Recognizing that in the area we serve, the majority of students will not be able to advance far academically, we have created vocational training programs in sewing and tailoring, carpentry, art, weaving, beading, and agro-forestry. With these, we are providing the local population with tools they can use to create a better world for themselves. Nelson Mandela: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
