Mission Statement
The Silicon Valley Invitational Tournament (SVIT) is dedicated to fostering a sense of community, inclusion, and empowerment within the LGBTQ community and beyond. Through the spirit of friendly competition and a shared commitment to giving back, we aim to create a safe and welcoming space where individuals and their allies can come together to celebrate diversity and support programs that uplift the LGBTQ community. Our mission is to increase public awareness, eliminate bias, and promote education to combat discrimination while raising funds to support local initiatives. Guided by the passion of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters, we proudly host an annual tournament which welcomes over 150 bowlers with their friends and families from across the nation for a weekend of camaraderie, fun, and impactful fundraising. Together, we celebrate equality, advocate for inclusion, and work toward a future where every member of our community feels valued and supported. Through donations, sponsorships, and partnerships, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
About This Cause
The Silicon Valley Invitational Tournament (SVIT) is a premier annual bowling event celebrating community, competition, and camaraderie. Designed to bring together the LGBTQ+ community and allies from across the nation, the tournament offers two exciting days of bowling, fundraising, and celebration. SVIT is proud to be a part of the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO), a global network that fosters unity and inclusion through bowling events worldwide. This affiliation further strengthens SVIT’s commitment to providing a welcoming environment that celebrates diversity while supporting programs that uplift the LGBTQ+ community. The tournament is open to bowlers of all skill levels, cultivating a spirit of inclusivity and equality. Participants engage in singles, doubles, and team competitions, drawing over 150 bowlers, along with their friends and families, from across California and the United States. Beyond the competition, the event offers a vibrant and engaging atmosphere, featuring social gatherings, an awards ceremony, and opportunities to connect with local businesses, sponsors, and attendees united by a shared commitment to equality and community. The tournament is hosted at a historic bowling venue in San Jose, California, with games taking place over a weekend in March. Participants can also enjoy the diverse culture and nightlife of Silicon Valley during their stay. SVIT is more than just a bowling event—it's a celebration of diversity, a fundraiser for meaningful causes, and an opportunity for individuals and families to build lasting memories.
