Xavier Mission strives for a future where all people, regardless of economic status, are treated with dignity and respect, and are given the opportunity to realize their goals. We welcome those who are disadvantaged into a supportive community, and we serve our guests with dignity, empower them to achieve self-sufficiency, and advocate for social justice.

About This Cause

Xavier Mission is a small but mighty nonprofit addressing hunger, homelessness, and poverty in NYC since 1983. We offer 3 basic needs services: 1-Welcome Table soup kitchen, serving 1,000 meals to unhoused individuals every Sunday, when most soup kitchens are closed 2-Customer Choice Food Pantry for 400 low-income seniors and families in a dignified, shopping-style environment 3-Clothing Room, including toiletries and other essentials for unhoused individuals and low-income families, including recently arrived refugees We also offer 2 empowerment programs: 1-Life Skills Empowerment Programs (LSEP) providing life-skills training, mentoring, a trauma-informed support group and storytelling, and support services to people who have experienced complex trauma, including unhoused individuals, veterans, and returning citizens 2-Financial Assistance / Eviction Prevention Program (FAP) providing payment of rent arrears and other critical expenses – including utilities, medical bills, and transportation needs – to New Yorkers facing eviction/instability due to a temporary hardship
