Mission Statement
Asylee Women Enterprise (AWE) supports asylum seekers and immigrant trafficking survivors as they navigate the immigration legal process, heal from past trauma, and rebuild their lives in Maryland.
About This Cause
AWE provides holistic services so our clients can rebuild their lives with safety and dignity. We offer trauma-informed, comprehensive case management to help clients access the resources and support needed to achieve safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. Our services include assistance accessing food benefits and addressing barriers to food security through outreach, advocacy, and education. We provide immigration legal services, including help applying for asylum; transitional housing for clients experiencing housing insecurity; and a range of educational and community engagement opportunities, such as ESL, financial literacy, a client leadership program, mentorship, and community activities like gardening, yoga, and cooking classes. Our health and wellness support connects clients to linguistically and culturally appropriate medical and behavioral healthcare, with staff providing accompaniment and orientation to the U.S. healthcare system in collaboration with trusted partners. We also offer specialized youth services for Spanish-speaking forced migrant youth, including enrichment activities, therapeutic bodywork, field trips, and group therapy.
