Mission Statement
Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 100% volunteer, nonprofit, animal welfare organization in Linn Creek, MO, that rescues, shelters and adopts to approved homes, horses that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. MFMN shelters over 100 horses at its Sanctuary and affiliated foster homes.
About This Cause
The Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary (MFMN) was established by Connie Hendrix, Donna Ogle, and a small group of friends when they were faced with a growing number of neglected and abandoned horses in their community. MFMN was established as a non-profit animal welfare organization in 2011 whose mission is “to provide aid and sanctuary to abused, neglected, abandoned or donated horses that come to us in need. Work with law enforcement and other agencies in their efforts to rectify situations in which horses are in peril. Provide horses in our Sanctuary with needed medical care, proper nutrition and a health plan to restore them physically and mentally for a new life. Continue educational and fundraising efforts to both help us support our rescue efforts and to promote awareness of issues involving neglect and abuse in our area.” Since 2011 MFMN has taken in more than 500 horses, with 352 adoptions to approved homes. MFMN shelters over 120 horses at its Sanctuary and network of affiliated Foster homes. We are very proud of the fact that MFMN has minimal administrative costs, no paid employees and is a totally 100% volunteer organization. Every penny donated goes directly to the horse’ medical care, feed, grain, etc. MFMN does not discriminate based on age, health, ride-ability, or breed of the horses it accepts – all we want to do is help them live a good life, or sometimes pass away, with dignity. MFMN has several permanent residents – horses whose health condition or age does not allow us to comfortably place them in other homes. The main source of support for MFMN is private donations and various fundraisers that are held throughout the year. Sometimes it is very hard, but we stay focused on our mission – to help horses in need. We have donated our lives to making a difference in the lives of these beautiful creatures with the knowledge that they give us more than we give them!
