Mission Statement
Farmers Market Fund makes nutritious, locally grown fresh produce accessible to underserved Oregonians by doubling SNAP (previously food stamp) benefits at more than 100 farmers markets and farm stands across Oregon. For every dollar of SNAP spent at participating farmers markets, shoppers receive an additional dollar to spend on Oregon-grown fruits and vegetables. Double Up is a triple win: shoppers eat more fresh fruits and veggies, farmers earn more revenue, and local economies grow.
About This Cause
Farmers Market Fund makes healthy, locally grown food accessible to all Oregonians by doubling SNAP benefits at 94 farmers markets and 9 farm stands in 27 counties of Oregon. Food insecurity in Oregon has doubled since the beginning of the pandemic, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) members of our communities as well as women, immigrants, and low-wage workers perpetually experience the highest levels of hunger. Double Up helps families bring home more fresh produce, gives small farmers an economic boost, and keeps food dollars in our local economy.
