Mission Statement

PorchLight - formerly Congregations for the Homeless (CFH) - works to end homelessness on the Eastside. As the only full-service shelter resource for single, adult men experiencing homelessness, PorchLight helps men to successfully make the transition from homelessness to permanent housing and regained independence.

About This Cause

PorchLight - formerly Congregations for the Homeless (CFH) - has provided emergency shelter to single homeless men on the Eastside for 3o years. In 2005, CFH modified the organization’s mission statement to not only provide shelter, but to include permanent housing for the men being served. Case Management services are key in helping the men transition from homelessness to stable housing and independent living. Services include: addiction support, mental health counseling, job search and resume building, goal setting and achievement, child support issues, legal support, Social Security application process, DSHS support, etc. Additionally, the Case Managers partner with many Social Service agencies in order to connect clients with the best resources available. Our emergency men's shelter opened in its new permanent location in June 2023. Our shelter program offers a crucial lifeline and avenue towards hope for homeless men in East King County. Three nutritious meals are provided each day, along with showers, laundry, and hygiene items in order to give the men the energy and cleanliness they need to succeed. In addition, internet and computers, bus tickets, gas vouchers, haircuts, clothing donations, and onsite support groups are offered. PorchLight provides subsidized housing units where a client pays 30% of their income for rent. Men remain in their housing units an average of two years, with approximately 30 men graduating to independent living each year.
