Mission Statement
Left Behind K-9 Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized for the purpose of saving homeless dogs and allowing them a second chance at life through our rescue, transport, foster care, rehab, and adoption programs. Our primary objective is to prevent the euthanasia of healthy dogs by working towards re-homing the abandoned, stray, and neglected ones who are in need. In addition, we serve as a resource to our community of dog owners by providing education on responsible pet ownership as well as providing financial support to those owners who are struggling to care for their pets.
About This Cause
How We Help the Dogs: 1. Rescuing and transporting dogs that are running out of time in overcrowded shelters and/or being surrendered by their current owners. 2. Provide these dogs with the proper veterinary care in order to get them up to date on vaccinations and other necessary procedures, insuring they are in good health before adoption. This not only improves their chances of being adopted, but it lessens the burden on the adopting family knowing that the medical records have been updated. 3. These dogs are then placed in foster homes where they will be evaluated for temperament and behavioral issues. We will then work to housetrain and teach basic obedience. This process will help put them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners. 4. We then work to adopt out these rescues to qualified homes that have been properly screened and counseled by our adoption coordinators and foster parents so we can be assured they will maintain the dog in their home for the remainder of its life. How We Help the Community: 1. Offer spay and neuter programs by providing a low cost spay and neuter option for the purpose of reducing unwanted births and unfortunate deaths of animal offspring. 2. Emergency care in life-threatening situations by providing emergency funds for intervention in medical services for injured pets that are salvageable and would live a full and normal life with appropriate medical services provided in a timely manner. 3. Educating the public by providing adoption counseling, pet behavior consultation and training, low-cost microchip programs, and work to communicate the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership, and the humane treatment of animals. 5. Donation of pet food and supplies by providing these items to families and seniors who are struggling financially to take care of their pets. 6. Provide assistance to other animal rescues and shelters in the community.
