Mission Statement

Dallas JPA helps students make good choices. We help students become law-abiding citizens through the use of local law enforcement officials and groups.

About This Cause

The Dallas JPA offers one day Academy classes to students in the Dallas area. The class stresses making good life choices everyday. The Basic class (grades 4 - 7) covers topics such as family violence, drugs, gangs, and internet safety. We also have fun by showing many different departments of the Dallas Police (SWAT, Canine, Mounted, Scuba, CSI). The children have an interactive 911 experience as well as take their own fingerprints. They get to have some physical training such as a police recruit would go through and they can ride in a police car with lights and sirens blasting. The Advanced class (8 - 10 grade) covers the force continuum, life skills, plus many of the same items as the Basic class. Many of our Basic class graduates are also attending the Advanced class. It is a full day (from 9 - 5). The students are fed breakfast and lunch, as well as snacks. We charge $5 to attend, but scholarships are available for any child who cannot afford to come. We work closely with area school counselors to be sure those students needing a class such as ours is able to attend. At the end of the day we have a graduation ceremony and raffle off prizes. Each child is given a t-shirt and a bag of "goodies" to take home with them (mostly school supplies). An average Basic Class consists of 80 students and Advanced Class is 30 students.
