Mission Statement
Through social, educational and environmental service, Global Leaders empowers students to create positive, sustainable change both locally and abroad.
About This Cause
Global Leaders (GL) is a 9-month student service-learning and leadership program for high school students in Northern Colorado. GL staff provides students with opportunities to create meaningful service projects and relationships with the community, locally and abroad. GL’s mission is “Students Empowering Students”. Often, youth are taught that they are the leaders of tomorrow, but GL believes they are the leaders of today. GL fuels its mission by empowering students to be an active voice of positive change in their communities, allowing them to better empower other students to do the same. Annually, each student participates in monthly leadership training and over 70 direct hours of student conceptualized, designed and implemented service-learning projects. Some of these projects include organizing Food Pantries for families at Poudre High School (PHS), Lopez and Putnam Elementary, working with differently-abled students at Rocky Mountain High School (RMHS) and PHS, and Respite Care among many others! GL’s program also includes a 12-day international travel and service component to Guatemala. Here, students work on four service projects: reforestation, working at a coffee farm, installing clean cookstoves, and volunteering at a hospital.
