Mission Statement

Manna Harvest exists to develop and implement a model community program encouraging self-sufficiency and improving the quality of life of those most in need. We provide meals to the hungry, distribute food throughout our communities and more while educating the public about solutions to the problems of hunger and poverty. Our vision is to be a community movement to assist those who are financially challenged, living in poverty or trying to make change to establish sustainability amongst those in need through networking efforts, relationship building and the personal investments of our supporters. We are a team of local communities, churches, businesses and nonprofit organizations working together for the common purpose in sharing a vision to minimize poverty and help people get back on their feet after devastating loss (fire, divorce, death of spouse/child, loss of job, etc.) thereby enhancing the wholeness and wellness of the people within the local communities. We serve the under-served and under-resourced in Johnson County. We are Volunteers who work to help alleviate hunger by unconditionally providing free meals and a sense of community daily in a supportive atmosphere. Our purpose is to serve as a catalyst for community-based initiatives that focus on transformation of those financially challenged or living in poverty. Our ultimate goal is to enhance lives by connecting people with services that enable productivity and promote growth within their communities. We envision a community where no one goes hungry for lack of food or funds; where a good meal is a nutritious meal; where our community learns to steward natural and financial resources wisely; where we share to make opportunities available to those who seek them. The dynamics of our mission are to: • provide and deliver quality service and resources to encourage and equip those most in need. • increase the return on each dollar invested towards building healthier children, youth, families and seniors. • increase the number of organizations serving becoming more fruitful, productive and sustainable.

About This Cause

Our philosophy is that by sharing not only what we have, but also the tools for people to feed themselves, no one in our communities need to go hungry. Over past years and through our building of community through shared energies and vision to end hunger, we have also created a place where people have connected and found not only food, but goods, support, services and social connection. Programs administered by Manna Harvest, Inc. Nehemiah Feeding Program - The Nehemiah Feeding Program serves approximately 20,000 meals per year. Meals are served to those in need Monday through Friday year round. Project Community Connect – Project Community Connect is an alliance of community non-profits and concerned citizens who host a one day, one-stop-shop event designed to deliver real services to people experiencing need within our community by bringing service providers together in one place. At the event, approximately 600 individuals are served. However, services are provided all year long on an individual basis (prescriptions, credentials, medical assistance and more). Harvest of Hope - The Harvest of Hope program is a no-cost food distribution program targeted to assist those in need within the Johnson County area. Manna Harvest Inc. partners with Harvesters Network, other non–profit organizations, and various business organizations. We provide groceries to families and individuals who find themselves struggling during difficult economic times. Distributions take place on the 3rd and 5th Saturdays of each month, from at 9:30 am until 11:30 a.m. This program impacts over 1500 individuals per month. CSF Program – Manna Harvest Inc. administers the USDA’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) that provides senior citizens with nutritious food. Applicants must be 60 years and older. Approximately 60 individuals and growing are served per month. Back Snack Program – The Back Snack Program provides breakfast and lunch on weekends for students on a fixed or reduced lunch program at their school. This program serves approximately 200-300 students per week. Jeremiah 29:11- Launched in August 2018, Jeremiah 29:11 facilitates the distribution of goods to non-profit organizations. Non-profits pay a $400 quarterly fee to help offset the transportation cost of goods to the warehouse. Participating agencies are guaranteed up to $3,000 per quarter in products. Those products are distributed to their clientele at no charge. These goods consist of items from corporations such as Amazon, Walmart, CVS, etc. (See Good360.org) such as personal care items, clothing, kitchen and bathroom items, home decor, cleaning supplies, electronics, small kitchen appliances, linens, office and school supplies, mattresses, lawn mowers, weedeaters, tents, and sleeping bags. Since August, 2018, Manna Harvest has garnered product with a retail value of approximately $4,500,000. As of August, 2020, between the current eighteen participating agencies, a Covid-19 Give Away, and unusable items, an estimated $2,300,000 has been distributed throughout Johnson County and surrounding communities. Community-wide Give-Away - is held two times a year, generally June and October. Between 50 - 60 pallets of goods from the Jeremiah 29:11 warehouse are made available, free of charge, to the Warrensburg community. Average attendance is 750 per event.
