Mission Statement
At Rosemary Farm, our mission is to rescue horses in need, and protect them for life. We save equines from slaughter, neglect, and abuse. Most have been passed from owner to owner, never knowing a herd or consistency. When they arrive here, they are home. We provide each with the care, training, and space to recover, for however long they need. If a horse cannot recover, they live while they are comfortably able, and ‘cross the rainbow bridge’ with dignity and friends by their side. Our horses do not live or die alone. Working closely with our professional team of equine specialists, we make our decisions based on what is best for each horse and the sanctuary family. Our horses live in dynamic natural environments, in herd groups, creating vital bonds that are honored and protected. Rosemary Farm currently has more than 90 equines under our care!
About This Cause
Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, Inc, is a registered 501(c)(3) charity, and a registered non-profit in New York State. We rescue horses in dire need and protect them for life at our ~250 acre sanctuary in the Catskill Mountains of New York. "Sanctuary” is the primary essential quality offered to every equine welcomed. When they arrive here, they are home. Rosemary Farm currently cares for ~100 equines, placing a few for adoption, keeping most in Sanctuary for life. In addition to being an equine rescue, Rosemary Farm educates horse owners and the general public about the deplorable conditions that many horses suffer, and how they can improve both the physical and emotional guardianship of horses. You are probably asking, "How can I help?" (1) Donate --- We are 100% donor funded. We receive no tax revenue or federal or state funding. All of the magic that happens at the Sanctuary is made possible through the generosity of individuals who believe in our mission and want to make a difference. Where you can give $5 or $500, one time or monthly, it matters. (2) Sponsor --- Become a Monthly Sponsor for a horse! Gifting $5 or more each month towards the food and care of a horse is a great way to impart that horse's life. And if you want to be the sole person taking care of a horse for life, explore our trademark Staydoption(TM) program. (3) Volunteer --- If you are in driving distance of the Sanctuary, you might enjoy signing up for a few hours each week or each month, and helping us with the physical work on the farm. Shoveling poop is not the only job we need help with, there are plenty of chores and projects at any given time. There are also 'non-horse' projects in the office or if you don't leave nearby, perhaps you can help us online. (4) Share --- We maintain a Facebook and Instagram presence where we share daily goings on at Rosemary Farm. It's a great way to stay up to date but also an easy way for you to share stories you like with others. In fact tell everyone you know! (5) Adopt --- Adoption is a big commitment and obviously not for everyone. If you think you might be interested, please read more about our policies on our website.
