About This Cause
A Childhood for Children is a grassroots, apolitical, non-religious, global aid relief organization whose mission is to fulfill the basic needs of impoverished children. Our story started with a $10 gift from a friend who asked us to go do something good in the world. A Childhood for Children was founded by Radhika Narain and initially supported 250 children in an orphanage in India. Today, we support over 2,000 children in 4 countries. We are a public charity or IRC 501(c)(3) organization in the US. Our purpose is to support (a) alleviating childhood hunger, (b) education, and (c ) overall well-being by addressing, coordinating, and providing aid and relief directly to children from a poor economic background on a local and global level. Our purpose with its activities is also to spend time with children rather than to simply give items. This is to ensure that the children feel loved and encouraged. A Childhood for Children has two strategies: Recurring strategy where children are supported year-over-year Travel with a purpose – make your vacation purposeful by serving children. As part of our projects, we have distributed: - basic hygiene: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, sanitary pads - school supplies: textbooks, stationary items, school bags - Clothing & footwear: sweatshirts, sweaters, shoes & socks, mosquito nets, sheets, towels, blankets - Food: rice, lentils, cooking oil - Baby supplies: diapers, baby formula Join us in our mission to help children -- 100% of your contribution received will support the children. All administrative costs are covered by the Board of Directors and 100% of the travel costs are covered by the volunteer.
