Mission Statement
The mission of the Alajawan Brown Foundation is to continually expand the work started in the spirit of 12 year old Alajawan Brown who selflessly gave of himself, his time, and resources – just to make a difference in the most important aspect of his community: PEOPLE.
About This Cause
This charity was started in 2012 in honor of Alajawan Brown. Alajawan said, "I want to make a difference in my community." He started his own business at the age of 9, mowing lawns. His compassion for people made him buy food for those who told him them they were hungry. Alajawan also made the decision to buy his own school supplies because he thought doing so would help his parents. Alajawan also loved playing football. He informed his parents that he would earn the money from is business and pay for the registration fees himself. Sadly, his family and the world was robbed of Alajawan's greatness when he was tragically murdered in 2010 when he was only 12 years old. Commemorating his determination to make a difference in his community, Alajawan's passing is honored April 29th during an annual community building event that entails food, games, and resources. Additionally, the Foundation has an annual backpack and school supplies giveaway right before school starts. On Thanksgiving Day, a freshly prepared meal is freely given, and nets several hundred servings. This flows with Alajawan's habit of feeding people. A scholarship fund has also been created to help offset the costs for student athletes to play sports and/or attend camps. Additionally, Alajawan's Hands extends help by sponsoring Shop With A Cop leading up to the Christmas holiday season. All of these services reflect the vision Alajawan carried as he himself made differences in the community, and in the lives of those he loved.
