Mission Statement
The Enneagram Prison Project's mission is teaching the incarcerated why we do what we do; using the Enneagram for transformation through self-awareness, self-compassion and self-regulation.
About This Cause
Our Mission Teaching the incarcerated why we do what we do; using the Enneagram for transformation through self-awareness, self-compassion and self-regulation. Our Vision Freeing people — all over the world — from the prisons of our own making. What is the Enneagram? A psychological system brought to Stanford University in the 1990s, the Enneagram is an incisive self-awareness tool which identifies the unconscious cognitive, emotional, and behavioral strategies which underlie virtually everything we do. Taught worldwide to individuals, business leaders, spiritual directors and — at last — to the incarcerated, EPP brings the Enneagram to those whom we feel may need it the most. Our Method We use the Enneagram system much like a map of ego structures and consider our teachers helpful guides who help our students to understand the unconscious cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns that underlie virtually everything we do. Our Philosophy We help people to remember what is right about them. All human behavior is an attempt to feel loved. We believe that it is our right to have autonomy, to know our worth, and to feel safe and secure. When our basic human needs and rights have been unmet or worse, violated, there is an intelligence underlying our impulses and reactions. We bring understanding to the motivations which preceded behaviors — compassion for the why before the what. Our Format We offer group-facilitated programs for both incarcerated men and women in jails and prisons.
