Mission Statement
A donation to the El Paso Leadership Academy (EPLA) isn't simply giving to a school, but rather it supports a dynamic movement that empowers our students for college success and leadership roles in their community. Most traditional and charter schools focus solely on academic outputs; whereas, EPLA is also committed to bolstering students who have been traditionally disenfranchised by helping them build the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to fight (luchar) for a brighter tomorrow for all. As our rising star in El Paso brings light from the darkness, our student leaders will bring a brighter day to our entire community. Join the movement to build and lead with the El Paso Leadership Academy. Join the cause, and donate to EPLA! EPLA- We Build. We Lead.
About This Cause
The El Paso Leadership Academy (EPLA) is a subsection D Texas public charter school servicing students from grades 6-8 starting with its initial 6th grade class in the Fall of 2014. EPLA is committed to preparing middle school students for the rigors of a college preparatory curriculum within their chosen high schools. By providing them with a solid academic foundation, leadership and character development skills as well as entrepreneurial skills, our goal is to empower our leaders to obtain at least a bachelor’s degree, high-level jobs skills, and return to El Paso, bringing new industries and opportunities with them to provide employment for all El Pasoans. Providing an academically high achieving charter school within the Hispanic enclave of El Paso will provide a model for closing the U.S. Hispanic/Latino achievement gap and make a significant impact in the educational opportunities for El Paso youth. Our vision is that all EPLA students, because of the school’s all-encompassing environment of high expectations, will recognize that attending and graduating from a four-year college can be a reality. Our goal is to give EPLA students the tools to achieve college and career success through a rigorous college preparatory curriculum while also providing them with opportunities to develop strong leadership skills and a life-long commitment to community service, which will empower our students to take an active role in shaping the future of their community. We will create a school where failure is not an option and students are given the knowledge and tools to identify and achieve their dreams.
