Mission Statement
Our mission is to empower teens and young adults to recognize their unique strengths and interests, providing them with the confidence and knowledge to navigate their future.
About This Cause
GiveTeens20 changed our business model from producing career videos and encouraging and equipping teens to find their career ‘fit’ to now learning about their unique strengths through the Clifton StrengthsFinder® Assessment. We then coach the student on recognizing and owning their strengths, and help them build a new vocabulary around the strengths. With that change, we felt it necessary to rebrand as NavZ as we help teens and young adults navigate their future. During this period of transition we are still using the www.gt20.org website as the www.navz.org is still in development. Some students have a clear direction for life after high school, while others need help with their future focus and strategies. Research shows that teens with a goal or direction have higher school and classroom engagement, so NavZ/GiveTeens20 gives guidance in how to choose and research potential paths while coaching them on their unique strengths. By helping students recognize and develop their unique strengths via the StrengthsFinder assessment, our Certified Gallup Strengths Coaches have been able to have a great impact on the individual by showing them how to intersect their distinctive strengths and interests with potential careers. Finally, by helping them choose a new, professional vocabulary centered on their areas of strength, we validate them and instill new-found confidence. We provide in-person or virtual classroom presentations that accomplish: - Administering StrengthsFinder assessment - One-on-one Strengths Coaching with a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach - Job Interview Training from local business owners A resource-focused website that provides: - Free online Department of Labor self-assessment tool link - Access to a wide range of proprietary career videos - Resource links for investigating careers (e.g. www.onetonline.org) Recent Freshmen cohort at Washington High School in Fremont 100% participation in the Strengths coaching program in this cohort of 19 students. After coaching, the teacher reports renewed classroom engagement. Pre and post-coaching survey shows: 25% increase in motivation in putting time and effort in schoolwork 20% increase in positive outlook for making a living beyond college or trade school 90% of students said knowing their strengths provided them excitement about the future 80% of students said they now feel confident about graduating high school Student testimonial answering the question "What was the most valuable thing you heard today?" - "How I could pave my own path and have the freedom to choose my own job without being boxed into a specific field. Gaining the necessary tools to effectively formulate an easy way to communicate my strengths to fit whatever job was very thrilling?"
