About This Cause

We provide services for underserved youth and young adults 11-24 in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential through our Project Right Direction Program. We also have a Domestic Violence Program “My Brothers’ & Sisters’ Keeper” and in that program we provide direct services such as advocacy/case management, life skills education, A 12 week Education and Support Group, support services and more. Project Right Direction has 3 focus areas: Our Community-Based Mentoring and Educational (CBME) program is designed to reach our youth early on in their lives in order to prevent later involvement in the juvenile justice system. The program aims to enroll young men and women between the ages 11-17 year old who are not court-involved, but could be at-risk for justice system involvement and some may already be exhibiting pre-delinquent behavior. These youth participants are paired with our mentors and tutors and they receive supportive services as well as intensive mentoring though the time of their high school graduation. Our Empowerment Program is designed for young adults who are 18-24 years of age. Assistance is offered to help this age group achieve academic and employment success, provide effective and comprehensive activities, which includes a variety of options for improving educational and skill competencies and provide effective connections to employers, ensuring on-going mentoring opportunities, provide opportunities for training, provide continued supportive services, provide incentive for recognition and achievement, and provide opportunities related to leadership development, decision making, citizenship, and community services. Our top priority for this age group will be to assist them in addressing the many challenges they face such as being a single parenting, high school dropout, the lack of a strong work ethics and others. Our New Beginnings is our diversion program and it is designed for those who are 11-17 who are in the early stages of involvement in the juvenile justice system or corrections. It is to address delinquent behavior informally in the community in an effort to prevent subsequent offending. The services that will be provided is screening and assessment, education and tutorial services, victim awareness classes and activities, service learning programs, substance use education and counseling, job skills training, mental health treatment, crisis intervention, family counseling, parenting skill development, supports for rebuilding family relationships and quality recreation and organized sports programs. My Brothers’ & Sisters’ Keeper Domestic Violence Program Our program is designed to reduce the traumatic impact of victimization by providing comprehensive, trauma-informed services to those who have been victimized, as well as individuals who have been indirectly affected by Domestic Violence. We offer Advocacy/Case management services, counseling, life skills training classes, a 24/7 Crisis Hotline, and a twelve week Domestic Violence Education and Support Group and much more. The purpose of this project is to reach populations of crime victims that are hard to reach through current victims’ services, particularly historically underserved populations, namely people of color, men, and young adults and to reduce the risk of repeat victimization.
