About This Cause
United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley (UHC) is a private, non-profit healthcare organization that has proudly served as the premier primary care provider for medically underserved communities since its incorporation in 1971. Previously separate entities, UHC’s first health centers in Parlier, Orange Cove and Five Points united as one to bolster the medical resources available to its rural patients when no one else would or could. After 50 years, UHC remains committed to the lifetime wellness of every community who turns to it for their care. Its guiding mission is to provide accessible, compressive, quality health care to everyone with compassion and respect, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. United Health Centers is licensed by the State of California as a community health center, and is recognized by the Federal and State governments as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), which means its system is the safety-net medical provider for Valley communities who have the most need, and least resources. UHC’s 30 world-class health care centers are built with family-centered care in mind, and are staffed with top-trained care teams who provide culturally competent and comprehensive services for patients at every age and stage of life. The organization’s reach extends to more than 100 communities in the most rural and underserved regions of Fresno, Kings and Tulare Counties through patient care in its health centers, and through community education and medical outreach events. UHC’s team works tirelessly to minimize barriers to accessing the primary care Valley residents deserve. In addition to its core medical, dental and vision programs, UHC continues to add specialty care services to its scope of practice. This includes behavioral health, women’s health, telehealth, podiatry, chiropractic, and ancillary services such as laboratory, x-ray and pharmacy all in one place. UHC’s insurance enrollment team, free transportation to and from appointments, and a growing roster of urgent care locations are just a few of the additional ways the organization continues to go above and beyond for the families who count on it.
