Mission Statement
The mission of the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation (PHRF) is to support research dedicated to finding a treatment, and hopefully an eventual cure of Pitt Hopkins and other similar disorders. Made up of families for families, the PHRF is also dedicated to supporting PTHS children with resource recommendations, parental support and the latest medical information. Our board and officers are parents and professionals who volunteer their time, so that 94% of all funds raised and donated go to finding a cure. Our goal is to find a treatment as quickly as possible that will help give our children fuller, higher functioning lives.
About This Cause
The Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation is committed to directly funding the most promising research available in the world to help find a treatment and ultimately a cure for Pitt Hopkins syndrome. We do more than just hold fundraisers and write checks. We are defining the landscape of Pitt Hopkins research. We set the research strategy by proactively identifying and monitoring promising therapeutic areas, seeking out scientific and industry partnerships and working closely with them to advance programs through the drug development pipeline. We believe Pitt Hopkins can be cured, but time matters. A rigorous, coordinated, and agile research agenda will get us there as quickly as possible. Our Progress: Since our beginning in 2012, we have funded nearly $6,000,000 in research grants and awards. In just 13 years, scientists discovered not one, but two therapeutics that have reversed the symptoms of PTHS in the mice. We are working hard to bring more drugs and more therapeutics to trial and are actively pursuing various genetic therapies.
