Mission Statement
Macomb Feeding the Need (MFTN) feeds families in the Macomb County Area. These are families either living in poverty or homeless. MFTN currently serves the community with meals twice a week. The day starts with a continental breakfast when the client comes in, a hot meal at noon and a bagged lunch to go as well as baked goods and produce. We also provide clothing vouchers and personnel care products for anyone who needs it within Macomb County. In addition to these services, Macomb Feeding the Need has helped the community by utilizing their resources along with other ministries to help 32 families by assisting them to apply for jobs, get employment and obtain housing within the community so they can become self-sufficient. This year we expanded and successfully partnered with the Roseville Schools and planted and grew three community gardens.
About This Cause
Macomb Feeding the Need was founded as a not-for-profit organization in 2011 as a way to give back to the community. When we started, we fed 32 people soup and sandwiches. The idea was to provide meals after the shelters close for the year, March until November when they reopened. We didn’t want any one person to go without a meal. We eventually found ourselves helping to provide other basic essential needs, such as clothing to keep warm and dry, personnel products (toothbrush, soap, etc.) to individuals who come to the kitchen to supplement their meager incomes. We now feed anywhere from 60 to 160 people in a feeding. At each feeding, they receive a continental breakfast, a hot meal at noon and a bagged lunch to go. Plus donations of bread and fresh produce to take with them. This year, we have fed 10,022 people, 2,325 have been clothed, and 2,805 personnel care products. 32 families have been helped off of the street and into a warm home. And had three successful green community gardens with the school children. Working to reach even more families this year, Macomb Feeding the Need is making great strides. “We believe its everyone’s responsibility to help with the needs of our brothers and sisters; it’s a responsibility we all take to heart. No man, woman, or child should go hungry in a country as rich as America is,” It was the deciding factor to opening a non-profit organization. Our mission is “To Feed The Needs of the Community, Mind, Body, Spirit and Soul”.
