Mission Statement
Laurel Community Lions Club Charities, Inc., in Laurel County, Kentucky is operating and fundraising to preserve and restore sight with vision services and equipment to needy and/or indigent individuals as well as to further charitable purposes of Lions Clubs by providing local disaster relief, supporting youth, the disabled, distressed, and infirmed with beneficial community services in the greater Laurel County, Kentucky area. Laurel Community Lions perform charitable projects authorized and promoted by Lions Club International through their mission and history.
About This Cause
Laurel Community Lions Club Charities, Inc. aids blind, visually impaired, low income, and disabled persons who need eye exams and glasses. Laurel Lions have purchased hundreds of pairs of glasses over the years. A number of Laurel Lions are trained to perform vision and diabetic screenings at senior citizen centers, and health fairs, or wherever they are needed. Laurel Lions have worked at cleaning our town and have done landscaping projects. Laurel Lions provide food baskets at Christmas and have a famous Christmas Party at our local nursing home for the elderly residents. After the March 2, 2012 tornado disaster hit Laurel County, KY, our club was able to reach out to 50 families, (126 persons) to distribute food and cleaning supplies when we received a disaster grant. From funds we raised ourselves, we were able to purchase and distribute clothes, shoes, a used bedroom suite, and much more. Because we have a Lions Club in Laurel County, another local charitable agency called on us to distribute donated blankets to the tornado families. Laurel Lions have a vision to do more for our community in the areas of sight, youth services, environmental and hunger projects with more members and greater financial resources.
