Mission Statement
Kate Healey Dubuque is the founder and President of the rescue. She is also the kennel manager, a veterinary Technician, Surgical Veterinary Technician and an Ex Animal Control Officer. She runs a 12 room kennel/ quarantine facility for the rescue from her residence; The only residentially based- quarantine facility that is licensed by the state of RI We are a licensed rescue with the USDA in the states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine. In 2020, another 740 went to outstanding homes! From 1/2020 to 3/2021 , over 1,200 dogs (and several cats) went to quality, loving homes throughout New England! As of 2024, we entered a collaborative with Dog On It to offer dogs with certain personality traits to kids and adults in need of a bit of assistance. We call this new adventure "The Sirius Project". Named after the brightest star in the sky; Sirius ; the Dog Star! We will be servicing folks needing PTSD assistance to Emotional therapy to hearing, eyesight and Stability impairments. We will work diligently to supply the people whom need the help of a dog at a fraction of the costs from another facility! Dog On It is an in-depth training program enabling the pairing of dogs to benefit our clientele. We are ALWAYS running in the red. About This Cause
We are a no kill facility that puts the supply with the demand; responsibly, legally, methodically. We help underprivileged dogs from the south find their way to deserving , loving homes in the north. All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped,, tested and treated for disease, de-wormed and transported to Rhode Island where they are then offered for adoption. As of Spring 2024, Little Rhody Rescue and Dog On It are collaborating to create the Sirius Project. Rescued puppies will embark on their journey into certified assistance dogs through our owner trained service and therapy dog program. To date, over 13,500+ dogs (and several cats , too) have been responsibly re-homed! " Give a first rate dog a second chance~ ADOPT!"
