Mission Statement
MedShadow Foundation runs both Medshadow and DES Action. MedShadow saves lives and improves quality of life by uncovering the hidden and minimized risks of medicines so that everyone has the ability to make truly informed decisions about the risks, benefits and alternatives to medicines. Sister organization, DES Action USA, operates under the MedShadow Foundation umbrella with the same EIN. DES Action identifies, educates, empowers and advocates for DES-exposed people.

DES Action, USA was founded more than 40 years ago as a member organization for those affected by the pregnancy drug DES. DES (diethylstilbestrol) was the first synthetic estrogen and the first endocrine disruptor. It caused breast cancers in some of the mothers who were given it during pregnancy, it caused CCA cancer in some daughters and it caused a variety of fertility organ defects in some of the daughters and sons. Now we are finding more effects of DES occuring in the grandchildren.
